Today is the day I hate. Where everything is a lie. Things I read on social media reach a level of absurdity that somehow make you want to go back to the normal weird level of Facebook. On a day like this, where people are scheming to make jokes, your darn sure that some really lame stuff comes out.
Specialization can lead to loneliness.
It’s true. No matter how good you are or how much you like to work independently, at the end of the day we would love to discuss our passions with our peers. Its not always easy when at the office your seen as the expert. Its not like your going to go to a local bar and happen to find someone who is an expert either. This is where I really urge people to actively find a community within their expertise. Not communities that are going to be your hiking buddies or the people you go to happy hour with.
We haven’t talked much about Snapchat at Ron Wave Design. However, for today’s post, we had to get into it. The reason is because of one man. His name is DJ Khaled. Yes, I’m talking about that one guy who was on all those songs from 2006 – 2010. You know the ones where he’s randomly screaming, “We The Best!”
We’re Not Joking, Give Him a Follow
A couple months ago I was trying to plan a little birthday event to be able to reconnect with old friends. I spent some time researching locations, asked for recommendations and then created a Facebook event page. I went through my entire friends list and invited a whole bunch of people. Like any business, I thought creating that Facebook events page would be good enough. People would come, no problem.
At the end of the day Search Engine Optimization is meant to increase your rankings. To get there though you need a good site, great content and links. What often happens though is that if you do SEO right, business relationships pop up. What I have found is that conducting search engine optimization has brought about those treasured underlined blue fonts to get directed to your site, but it leads you to people and businesses that are more than willing to start a relationship with you. Today, I’ll take you through how SEO and linkbuilding helps get your business not only ranked higher, but it gets you more connected.
What’s great about marketing is that it’s the aspect of business where the brand can come alive. It allows you to step out of your logo and storefront and put out beautiful designs and graphics that make your brand start to feel tangible. Companies like Coca Cola, Google and Apple are great example of companies who have expertly made their brand into tangible beings. When it comes to marketing your brand, it can be exciting, but overwhelming. This is where the concept of minimum viable product comes into play.
The ill deserved fate of marketing is it still has not figured out a way to be able to track itself. Yes, mediums like Analytics, call tracking and coupon codes have provided an avenue for businesses to begin understanding what they are doing. However, the nature of the market still has prevented many businesses from understanding how they get their revenue. Yesterday I was in a sales call where the prospect discussed how he was spending thousands of dollars a month and till this day he did not know if it was helping him sell his product. He told me it was the nature of business and that its hard to justify when you don’t know.
I love when I see authenticity – Oh god, I sound like a snooty artist – especially when it comes on Social Media. Whenever I find something I really like I do my part in really enjoying the moment, the content provided and I will definitely talk about it. So today I’m going to talk about one of the best pages that I love to follow.
You ever have one of those days where your sitting at your desk, completely lost in the thought of all the tasks you want to accomplish for the day? All you really think about is getting some work done. But, a friendly face walks by and asks you to get lunch with the others. The stickler inside you always screams into your conscious, “What the hell are you thinking?! You don’t have time for fun! Get back to work!”
